Denise C. Barrett

Denise C. Barrett is a Federal Defender Sentencing Resource Counsel. In that role, she provides consultation and advice to support the Federal Defender Sentencing Guidelines Committee in fashioning sentencing policy, supporting the development of sentencing jurisprudence, and training.

Before joining the SRC Project in late 2008, Ms. Barrett served for twenty years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the District of Maryland. While there, Ms. Barrett handled a variety of complex cases at the trial and appellate levels, including capital trial and post-conviction litigation, and coordinated a team of research and writing attorneys.
