Julie Brain

Julie Brain is the Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Capital Habeas Unit. Ms. Brain previously served as Chief of the Capital Habeas Unit for the Federal Public Defender's Office in Little Rock, Arkansas and joins the Delaware office in a supervisory capacity. 

  

Ms. Brain began her career as a Staff Attorney for the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where she represented indigent defendants in juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases at every level.

In 2000, Ms. Brain joined the Habeas Corpus Resource Center in San Francisco, California, as a Habeas Counsel II. There, she represented clients in capital habeas proceedings in state and federal courts, supervised factual and mitigation investigations, worked extensively with mental health experts and conducted training for court appointed attorneys assigned to capital habeas cases. As the Chief if the Capital Habeas Unit in Arkansas, Ms. Brain supervised attorneys that represented individuals sentenced to death by the State of Arkansas in federal habeas corpus proceedings.
